  • Pruning raspberries

I always have difficulty pruning summer raspberries in the autumn as all the ‘stems’ end up looking the same colour and you can’t distinguish old and new, so this year I’ve cut them out already! Fruiting has finished and some of the leaves had shrivelled and died anyway

Anybody else do this? I hope I haven’t made a big mistake!

I do that sometimes. Doesn't seem to do them any hard. I did my loganberries a couple weeks ago.

I had to cut a couple of old canes off mine as a branch on an apple tree has got weighted down so that the canes were about to start scratching the apple skins.

When I had summer raspberries I always cut down immediately after fruiting and tied the new canes to the supports.
