I like it the way it is.
As others hve said, it a way to acknowledge someones post.
I think a sympathy emoji would be very useful.

Seriously I like the 'like' button it can be very informative, as in if VC 'likes' one of my posts I know I am within bounds and am good for another day.

I tend to agree with Rary and they seem to have little reasoning behind them.
A "Dislike" would be trouble, sounds funny/amusing but the reality would be anything but.

Take one person saying prune autumn raspberry's to the ground in November and another putting up a dislike and saying No that's wrong you should do it in February. Does the person that then comes along and says: "Immaterial if Nov or Feb, or between, but they need to be pruned when dormant." put up a Dislike to both previous.

                            ^^^ That's not a "Dislike" - its a "Disagree".
Maybe we need a "Thanks" more than a "Like"?

Maybe 'like' should be reclassified as 'a reaction', then folks could take it as a 'like', 'thanks' or what ever.

I use 'like ' as a quick way of saying thank you or because something in funny.
