  • Farm work experience holidays?

This is something Ive always wanted to do. Spend a few days helping out on a farm, learning what goes on etc. whether animal or crop based. I've never heard of it before, even having searched ont'net.
Has anyone heard of any farms (in Lancashire) who would be willing to take on a novice for a few days just to learn? Unpaid of course!

Sorry never heard of that type of thing - nearest I could suggest is trying to find out if any of your local organic farms use Woofers. These are generally foreign students who travel about, working for board and lodgings (and a few pennies). Might be able to find you a friendly localish farmer ?

I would love to have a go at that too. I am in negotiations for four acres of land and had some experience on local small holdings but nothing on big farms.
Have a look at some of the farm campsites. They normally offer a few nights stay and appreciate a hand around the place. They are usually quite small farms or smallholdings but very good fun.
