  • Wood bark/chippings

Sorry- I'm not sure where to post this request

They chopped down some trees at work.
I can, if I want take the 'chippings' which is fab as I need an awful lot (to go under and around my bee hives).
I am worried though - they say the tree had bleeding canker? what of the chippings- will they harbour the disease? could I end up spreading this nasty disease around buy collecting and using the chippings?
We looked at ordering a bulk bag last week - how do I know if these are canker etc free?
    Am I worrying over nothing.
Need some advice please as these 'chippings' are free for me to take - while they last!!!!

RHS advice is to "burn the affected material rather than composting or chipping"

I take it the trees were Horse Chestnuts?
    The cats' valet.
