  • What inspired you to try a new crop?

I grew some salsify out of curiosity having seen the seed large, coarse, dandelion like heads in a wildlife reserve on near Whitstable. I grew some sweet corn because a lot of the growers on my allotment site grow it. Carrots - the first year because I saw the variety of colours you can get on a Jamie Oliver, the 2nd year because they tasted so great compared with the supermarket carrots. Elderberries I took on originally because I wanted to grow bushes to make single variety consistent quality wines having found too much variation from wild harvested.

What might have inspired you to try growing something - straight forward like carrots or unusual like salsify or elderberries?
