  • Good morning. Where is everyone? Were you all out late partying last night?🥳🤪I've just spent a while tracking down the elderly in-law who lives in a care home as she fell out of bed last night, banged her head and ended up in A & E. She's on her way back to the care home now....... I'll try and get Mr GF to visit at the weekend, or as soon as it cools down a bit. He seems to be nigh on surgically attached to the fan.

It was a warm night but I did manage to sleep quite well. I hope everybody else did too.

No party here GF but I did have a drink while watching TV don't think that counts it was a hot night having the window open didn't help the air was so still.

Sounds like MrGF is enjoying the fan does he have them both on

time to switch of the PC back later.

      • Afternoon n’alln’all

Sorry - We nipped out early today.
Only got a small amount of fabric …typically end of line
I’m sure a have some calico curtains I made years ago hidden somewhere in the barn…they would be perfect to cut up.
Managed to get everything else on the list from other shops and had a quick salmon lasagne at IKEA and bought some candles and orchids.

Why is it that feet throb when it’s hot?…I’m tempted to do the bucket of cold water trick….

Hope your relative is ok Gf…not nice for her.

        • Good night all.
          what a beautiful day.
Too hot to work in the garden so changed the bed linen and had them out on the line and back in within a few hours,
All the greenhouse plants watered and I am getting a huge crop of tomatoes this year.

GF, sorry to hear about your relative and hope you get good news.
          Sleep well.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

            • Good morning all. It's going to be another hot one, creeping over 30°C again. I slept well last night however until Mr GF woke me up before 7 with a coffee.....he thought it was later.

One of the in-laws went to see about a mobility scooter a few weeks ago but we were all worried that his eyesight (one eye with limited vision) would make it too dangerous for him, and others. He had an appointment with his eye specialist at the hospital a couple of weeks ago who said his eyesight is not good enough but with glasses it might be. I never realised that all the opticians in our city have shops on the same few streets in a now totally pedestrianised area. He cannot walk far enough to get to any of them. There isn't one with a handy car park. How ridiculous. He has got a wheelchair that can be pushed but it is too heavy for me to lift into and out of my car.... Eventually he has booked an appointment for an eye test at home.... but why are city centres so inaccessible for some disabled people.

I am not doing much or going far today in the heat. I am hoping that we get some of the "possible" rain next week.

              • Good morning all.
                Another beautiful day here.
We are going shopping for a debs dress for my granddaughter.
We just learned her debs takes place in three weeks so we havnt got much time.

Bren, happy hunting, I love browsing the charity shops.

                • Afternoon n’alln’all

Tis a Mrs Mop day for me today . Just sat down for a pint of water…..far too hot to be scrubbing away

We’ve had some strong winds recently - loads of windfalls to sort out . Not complaining….we didn’t think we’d get any apples this year so every one is a bonus

Have a great time at the charity shops Bren. Once I picked up 8 beautiful Villeroy and Bosch dessert bowls for £4. As you say, you never know what you need…. Actually I need a small salt and pepper pot ! There is a Vide Grenier nearby tomorrow so I’m hoping we can head off early to that.

Hope you find the perfect dress Bramble - growing up fast eh?

Right….water consumed - best go and collect those windfalls!

Enjoy the rest of the day peeps - keep cool and hydrated!

Oh…and by the way, did those pesky smiles pinch one of my watering cans?…keep an eye out for it please…it’s a green one.

                  • Evening n’alln’all

Just been making a birthday cake for one of our guests. Chocolate with Nutella ‘icing’. Too hot to bake it earlier.
Looks like the temperatures are dropping tomorrow - hope so….maybe even a few sprinkles of wet stuff dropping out of the skies

Another evening trying to see the meteors - we saw about 10 between us yesterday. Two were amazingly bright . (The full moon was wonderful in itself.)Anyone else had a chance to see any yet?

I didn’t buy much from the charity shops just embossing craft items, nothing else caught my eye.
Off outside now to water my toms and courgettes.
                      enjoy your evening.

Where is everyone?….Sleeping?…I best leave the breakfast trays outside your rooms then!

We have storms threatened for the rest of the day starting pretty soon.A few huuuge drops fell a few minutes ago but nothing since. I hope that wasn’t the sum total It’s definitely cloudy but no dark ones in sight yet.

Slow start for me - yesterday was exhausting. Will pop along to the vide grenier later if it stays dry, if not then there’s a pile of ironing waving at me.
I was given a lovely embossing machine a while ago Bren but not used it since Covid stopped the Xmas Fairs. I should get it out and have a play when I have time. OH has suggested converting a small storage area off a spare bedroom into a craft storage space. It’s not big enough to work in but I think having everything more to hand will be much more useful.

                        Enjoy your day peeps….

                        • Good morning. Full sun again and in the 20s at the moment but due to top 30 again later. Hopefully today is the last of the plus 30° days and we may even have a thunderstorm tomorrow.

I was up and about early, taking advantage of the relative coolness. I've been scrubbing and sorting seed trays and pots and storing them away for next year; also sorting and organising jam jars. If nothing else things look a "little" tidier. I don't know where all the jam jars have come from. I have even put some in the recycle bin.

                          • Good morning all.
Latd on parade but all is fine and the sun is still shining.
No plans for the say, just relaxing after a rather hectic day yesterday,

Grandaughter got the dates wrong for her debs hence the last minute dash to get her sorted.
She chose a navy floaty dress with silver accessories.

                            Have good day all,

Just popping in before starting on the sticky toffee pudding I'm going to make for lunch. It's M Berrys recipe, so no dates, pretty much a gingerbread recipe but minus the ginger

Gd's dress sounds lovely, Bramble, hope she has a lovely day whenever.

                              • For some weird reason I have been in "domestic goddess" mode today....a very rare occurrence.....so out of character. I have been skulking indoors where it has been cooler and eventually decided to give my latest "gadget", a window vac, a trial. Firstly I must admit I am possibly the worst window and mirror cleaner in the world regardless of method. I can spend hours cleaning them and they end up worse and streakier than when I start.

This rechargeable window vac, bought a couple of weeks ago from one of the budget supermarkets, has revolutionised things. My mirrors sparkle as never before. As do the windows I have done so far (the ones not in direct sun). Even better it takes a couple of minutes to do a massive mirror. The last time a domestic gadget pleased me so much was probably when I got my first stick blender.

I am already imagining sparkling greenhouses!

I think it might just be G and T time now as I am feeling so pleased with myself.
