What has happened to googlechrome

Does anyone else use google chrome?
Opened it today, all my bookmarks have gone, the colours are different, it's all changed. What has happened to it? It's like a whole new browser I have to start all over again.

Are you logged in? it sounds like its been logged out and changed user within chrome

I've been searching around. Apparently it's the result of an update - happened to lots of people. Does anyone here use it, and if so, how did you resolve it? I've tried system restore but that won't fix it.

And although I remember my main email password, I relied on GC to fill in the other 3 accounts for me. Aaarrrgh!

I use Chrome but that's not happened to me. Yet...

There are some solutions posted online but I have no idea which, if any, of them work.

Has syncing been turned off? If you look in your Google Account, are your passwords still there?

I'm no expert, but these are the places I'd start looking.

No passwords in google account, sync is on, adblocker has disappeared, just had to re-download that.

It's all hassle I really don't need right now!

I wonder what would happen if you tried a different browser and told it to import bookmarks and settings. Maybe nothing, but it might be worth a try.

Is there any way you could install a previous version from a back-up or other source? Not something I'd feel confident in doing from a full back-up, personally, in case I restored old versions of everything. But I did see this on Quora:

Unfortunately that link just helps you to system restore, and I've tried that already. I'll just have to accept that all my bookmarks are gone forever and look on it as a darn good spring-clean. It's a pain with the passwords though. They'll all have to be reset one by one.

Finally worked out how to make edge let me export bookmarks, but they are mostly old ones.

That’s my worst nightmare MH
I’m utter rubbish with passwords and constantly need to replace them. So time consuming
But to have lost all/ most of them is soooo disheartening.
Well done on what you have so far achieved. Sorry I can’t help you though.

What version of Chrome is giving folks problems?
Asking for mrs quanglewangle, for whom I provide tech support on her Windows lappy.

For what its worth mine is 92.0.4515.159 (Official Build) (64-bit) running on Ubuntu 20.04 and is fine so far.

Brilliant!!

Just as that top post says, google asked me to choose a profile and when I did, that's when everything went pear-shaped.

So I logged out of my (only) profile, and bingo! there were all my bookmarks! So I was able to save them all as a documents file, sign in again, and import them.
