LD, try phoning Age UK. Might not work, but I know they made a big difference for my mum. I don't know how Social Services works in your area, but you might find Age UK or something like a Citizens Advice Bureau or even your local councillor might be able to advocate for you. Worth a try.

Thinking of you both, as always.

Hot here already this morning. I've been trying to convince an elderly relative to keep the curtains shut on the sunny side of her flat until the sun moves round. I don't know if I have succeeded though. I don't think I'll be doing much more than watering the greenhouses at the allotment and picking a few vegetables and fruit.

Nicos the conditions that we worked in was unbelievable in comparison with today, the furnaces were in a large tin sheeted shed which could have sections removed to allow an air flow if there were six blast furnaces going it generated a lot of heat so as the temperatures stated to rise about May time there was requests made for the air flow improved we worked through the summer with them closed and they got opened about September went through the winter with them open complained v about the cold so the got closed about March, it got so cold some times that you had to break ice on top of a bucket to get a drink(hence the appreciation of hot tea) there was one cold water tap forty odds men to get a drink a shower unit with three showers out side the furnace shed, with no heating, as I said conditions were so different then, my OH had no idea what it was like, til she experienced me coming home removing my shirt and it was so saturated with sweat that it could stand by its self she actually made to wash it at first but I didn't allow it as you used the same shirt for a week this was to avoid getting cramps as the body needs to reabsorbe the salts in the shirt, might not sound right but believe me it's was necessary though I didn't let her wash the shirt I let her wash me but that another story

Lottie, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Keep going, you are the voice for your Mister now.
I spent 10 years or more going through the same thing with my mother.
I was the eldest so it all fell on my shoulders.
When you look back you will be amazed at ehst you achieved.

As for me, I am absolutely shattered.
Spent the evening running after a very energetic two year old.
Enjoyed him so much but I need an early night after that.
Stay safe all and have a good evening.

Evening all, what a muggy day, woke myself up screaming for help this morning ,thank you all for the kind remarks about my absence and looking in again, worth a million,we saw GP,he asked then explained to MR what a PofAtt..... is,GP said to get it done within the next 2 weeks, and declaired MR able to sign up to it ,but be quick, also get hold of social servises, seems like there is more chance of getting to the moon for free, than anyone picking up the phone, after 2 attempts, being tolled am 6 in the cue, then cutting me off after aprox 14 mins,i gave up,i wonder if it is just a ploy to ignore peeps,it is NOT good when peeps need help, will try first thing tomorrow, this covid has a lot to answer to,then it's find a solicitor ASP,had 1 organized begining of april, then they canseled it,and time has flown, hope i can sleep tonight, have a good evening, and stay safe

We've just given our aged dog a bath. Well, a session with a watering can and shampoo. For the first time ever, she didn't complain. Positively enjoyed it, in fact. Warm water, in the shade, nice and cool after. The dogs would probably love a paddling pool too. Don't think it would survive long though.

Today wasn't too bad temperaturewise (top 30s, but we stayed indoors). Going to be a few stinker days coming up though. Our friend up the valley is letting another mutual friend with kids use his house for a week. I've told her the temperatures. I think she didn't believe me. She's determined to come. I think she's going to find it very hard with two teenage lads, a dog, no mobile devices (no phone signal) or other screens (not allowed, apparently), too hot to do anything but sit around during the day. If they last the week without a massive argument, it'll be a miracle. We've told them we won't be socialising (they're coming from a part of northern Spain with Covid problems due to itinerant fruit pickers living in awful conditions). Glad we're staying at a distance...

Right, off to make crackers and then to bake avocado pears. Catch you tomorrow.

    I hate buying anything plastic...

Really enjoyed reading that, Rary. I bet any drink would have been welcome in a steelworks.
