BR how did your loaf turn out ?

I'm on day 3 and I think my starter is dead No bubbles or anything this morning I still fed it though. I was thinking of starting of a second jar but this time keeping it in my heated propagator for the first 24 hours so the temp would be more constant or would that be a bad idea.

Did you see the fabulous baking boys on C4 last night. They had a startervthatvhad been going in their family for 56 years............

Don't realise the second rise was up to 12 hours........catch it on 4OD I think.......

        Loving my allotment!

If I remember well, 28 DC is the perfect temp (32 DC and they die) and then it should only take 3 days to make a starter, but you have to feed about every 8 hours! Don't give up on trying

I need to get OH on the sourdough case. I gave him the River Cottage bread book as a present last year and he did make a couple of sourdough loaves. He even got a bread proving basket for one of his Christmas pressies, so we definitely need to give that a trial run.

It does seem a lot a messing around compared to my usual loaf using fresh yeast so I hope its worth it.
