  • a basic pizza recipe

    my son loves pizza and loves veg so this is a great way of combining the two and the kids can even do their own.

    225g (8oz) white bread flour
    1 tsp salt
    150ml (1/4 pint skimmed milk)
    2 tsps dried yeast
    4 tbsps tomato passata with herbs
    1 red onion
    8 cherry tomatoes halved
    115g (4oz) mozzarella cheese, diced
    50g (2oz) mature cheddar cheese grated
    2 tbsps salad cream

    1) preheat oven 200C /400F/Gas mark 6
    2) Sift flour and salt into a mixing bowl.Warm milk in microwave or saucepan until hand hot but not boiling. Stir in yeast and let it dissolve.Make a well in centre of flour and add the milk stirring the mixture with a knife to bring the dough together.
    3) turn out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth. cover with a damp cloth and leave for 10 minutes
    4) knead dough again and roll out. transfer it to a baking sheet then spoon passata over. arrange the onion and tomatoes on top
    5) mix mozzarella and cheddar in a bowl with the salad cream and then blob over the top of pizza
    4) bake for 20 minutes

    thats the basic recipe and we add mushroom, onion, carrots, peppers, sweetcorn etc. anyway thought i would share it

    If anyone has problems kneading dough and has a bread maker, you can set that to the dough setting to make your pizza base.

    Also, before you put anything on your base, put it in the oven for 5mins first.
