I thought it’d be fun to share both tried and tested or just recipes which have caught your eye….

Here is one I just spotted - and edible cheese scone wreath!

Not festive, but my recipe for today. Brocolli/calabrese is cheap and cheerful (why can't I grow it like it is sold in the shops?) Recipe is protein rich and warming. Looks really nice!

        Boxing Day Pasties

        Quantity of shortcrust pastry
Any quantity of leftovers from: carrots, parsnips, cauliflower, broccoli or other veg, turkey, ham, bacon, stuffing, sausage, plus gravy or other sauce to moisten.
        1 egg, beaten, for glazing

Preheat the oven to Gas 4, 180°C.
Take the leftovers, except for any gravy or other sauce, and mash roughly together in a large bowl. Add a little moisture – either gravy, sauce, or a little stock – to give a pleasantly moist but not slushy mixture.
Roll out the pastry to about 1/2cm thick and cut into several pasty sized rounds (about breakfast plate diameter – use one to cut around for a perfect shape). Place a few tablespoons of the filling in the centre of each pasty. Moisten one half of the edge of each circle with beaten egg and carefully lift the sides to meet in the middle and pinch together to a pasty edge (so it is sitting up Cornish pasty style).
Brush all over with the beaten egg and bake in the centre of the oven for 45 minutes until golden. Eat hot or cold.

I quite like the look of this ... very prettily presented and would be great with a selection of dips.

I don't have any festive recipes of my own, sorry. That said, I'm thinking of making one of these this year:
