I'm worse: I've just bought the book from AbeBooks. Around five euros, Nicos, including delivery from the UK. Just so's you know...

And thanks, nick the grief. I'll check out the Sussex pond pudding. Sounds just my kind of pud. And I actually have some suet (Atora vegetable, but I presume it will do).

Sometimes when we want a quick pudding I cheat and make a microwave one, 2 oz of flour, butter, sugar and eggs. Beat together mix in fruit or a dollop of jam in the bottom then cook in a pudding basin for 3 mins.
              Perfect

Just as well we don't have a microwave. Mr Snoop would be asking for that for breakfast!

Hard to beat an apple pie straight out of the oven, if the pastry is homemade, and there's custard to go with it.

While we're talking about puddings what's your Custard preference ?

                      Tinned
                      Powder
                      Homemade.

                        yes

I like proper custard made with eggs etc but you can't beat a huge jug of birds custard (I make mine in the microwave) and I loves the skin off it ... Mainly because at home no one else did so I worked out you got a bigger dollop that without

Tinned is OK if you're desperate as is the instant stuff ...

My job at christmas is to mke the custard for the trifle that only me and Mrs G eat

Birds Powder…knocks spots off everything else - the thicker the better and at Xmas with a % of double cream stirred in

( is it any wonder why I need to keep dieting?)

OH said his favourite is my bread and butter pudding - crammed with fruit and a very crispy top served with vanilla ice cream.
Pity he doesn’t get it very often!

I've never had Bread and butter pudding or that other one summer pudding, it just seems wrong to me bread should be for sandwiches.
I love how we all like different things.

I had a very nice one in scotland once that had marmalade and whiskey added to the mix and I don't like whiskey particularly
