      • Mr GF doesn't fancy salad so we're still having ribs and garlic bread but with beer battered onion rings, avocado with a soy sauce and olive oil dressing, and a tomato, pesto and mozzarella bake.

I am really fancying the onion rings, we haven't had them for ages.

An update. The ribs (frozen, never had before......11 mins in the microwave were gorgeous), everything else was as good as expected, including the much awaited onion rings (rest of the rather nice beer for the batter obviously went to the cook.....me), but the avocado was amazing. Just mix the other 3 ingredients and toss the avocado in it. I didn't tell Mr GF that it was called Japanese avocado SALAD. He loved it too.

          • I'm pretending I haven't read all that, @greenishfing... The avocado sounds good. I shall try and remember that.

Lightly salted cod on a bed of courgettes in tomato sauce. That makes it sound a bit grander. Plus some white wine.

                      • I think tonight will be salmon baked with lemon and capers, homemade tartare sauce, couscous, roast vegetables and hopefully some asparagus.

                        • I’m thinking maybe a very simple bbq - will need to defrost some meat if that’s the case.

                          • Too late to make aubergine parmigiana yesterday, so supper turned into pasta with pesto. Will try for aubergine parmigiana tonight, but I've got a really busy day ahead.

                            Definitely buns for gifts.

                              • I'm thinking maybe a beef and vegetable soup for tonight with bread and butter. I'll set the slow cooker off when Mr GF finishes wrecking the kitchen (also known as making his breakfast).

Maybe a little trifle for dessert.
