  • The Vine Preserver's Year 2012

This is just a simple thread for Grapes to note what they have preserved and when - with volumes.

No chat, no recipes - just a quick note to let other people know what they have done.

    This week, I have made:

Wine from home grown frozen raspberries from last summer [1 gallon]
Chilli Jelly from last year's chillis, dried and reconstituted in hot water [5 x 330cl bottles and one 120cl bottle]

Is this purely from homegrown? How about wild-gatherings? Nowt so far apart from marmelade! (please delete if it shouldn't be here)
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

(Not all home gown! Home grown apples straight from the freezer with the apricots from the shop down the road -couldn't resist all reduced to 30p per punnet)

I dug out the last remaining bags of blackberries and elderberries from the freezer last night and made jelly with them this afternoon.

I got 3 1/2lb jars and a wee bit left over in a ramekin that i'll use for quality control when it cools

Beetroot (frozen ready grated ) and mint jelly (4 and a bit jars) which also used part of a bottle of apple juice (from home grown apples) .....the rest of the apple juice is now mixed with passion fruit pulp and dripping through the jelly bag ready for tomorrow .
