  • Dillemma?

I fancy making some jam, some jelly and some relish (One lot of each) but don't know which ones?

I have at my disposal (or soon will have!)

Crab apples (although they taste like a fresh Golden Delicious)
Wild yellow plums with a blush (sweet)
    Blackberries
    Jalapenos
Fresh and sundried tomatoes (done in the dehydrator)
    Marrow (overgrown cougettes)
    Onion/shallots
    Carrot
    Swede
    Herbs

    Ideas appreciated!

I'll bet apple and blackberry jelly would be yum! Would think you'd just make it same as any other jelly......

crab apple and blackberry jelly seconded. I think I saw that on cook on the wildside (years ago)

And in the little book thing that came with the other month's GYO there was a recipe for marrow/courgette chutney that would also use some of your onions/shallots!
Excuse me, could we have an eel? You've got eels down your leg.

If you used the lot you would end up with a concoction like the old bird in the Vicar of Dibley might make.

Blackberry and apple jelly (made mine last night)
Plum chutney with some chilli to liven it up

            Apple and blackberry jelly
Wild plum jam - I make these two every year - brilliant.
Chilli jam with the jalapenos and tomatoes (you'll need some root ginger for best effect)
And marrow, onion, jalapeno plus some raisins in a chutney or relish. You can run this through a foor processor for a smooth relish if you prefer it like that - or go for lumpy.

I'd make Apple and blackberry jelly first only because I made some yesterday and had it on toast for breakfast this morning
Marrow chutney's nice and you can add chilli's to it.
ps. Hope you've got enough jars

Can I chop up sun dried toms and add these as well to give an enriched flavour?

You certainly can! Then you invite Flum round to sample it!
