Ginger beer made by using yeast WILL be somewhat alcoholic, but not very....
When I last made some I gave it a few days in the bottle with lids NOT screwed down. It still gets fizzy, but a bit less violently so, and yes, it will be a bit more alcoholic that way!
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

      whoosp.

So its has a bit of a kick does it.

Note to self: Open bottle outside.

Lovely day to be drinking it though. Friend made elderflower champagne and had to have redecorators in, to redo the whole bathroom after it exploded.

just thought decorators are normally still decorators even when they redo it. Blonde!!

I will open the next one with a big teatowel over the top and over a brew bucket; I don't want to lose any again.

It's lovely. Even Mr Z has just enjoyed a glass and he doesn't like ginger beer usually.

            I would say yes
You have to loose sight of the shore sometimes to cross new oceans

I would be a perfectionist, but I dont have the time

If they'd been in the shed for a year, then I'd assume you'd washed them out.....so they would be clean enough as long as you drink it relatively quickly.

But it's always best practice to sterilise....

Ive tried a couple of recipes but none have ever been as spicey and fiery as the ones you buy in the shops. :s

have you tried feeding it for longer than 7 days or giving it extra ginger everyday? I've currently got 2 plants on the go one i'm over feeding and the other i'll feed over a longer period of time as i like mine hot too.

                              Blimey oh reilley.

I just opened 2 liter bottles; they were glass beer flip top types; and I put a fermenting bucket underneath, and one on top and flipped it open with a teatowel over my hand and - well - they went BANG!!!

So, I've transplanted them into a 2 litre plastic squash bottle; the glass is far too scarey.

Next time, plastic bottles all the way....my blood pressure can't cope.

WOWSER - the second bottle took out the top lip and had glass shards everywhere.

NEVER PUT GINGER BEER IN GLASS BOTTLES
