  • What flowers have grown well for you

Wondered what had gone well for members in the flower garden. Having eradicated the rabbits this year my borders have been really good, although going over now. Thought you might like to see them - nothing much of any great height due to the wind. Lillies have been fantastic - planted loads last year and they have been superb this year. And a picture of my new greenhouse - I'm very pleased with it but it is a bit empty at the moment.

Your garden looks gorgeous Jennie. A real credit to you as I know you have some quite difficult climatic conditions there. Your greenhouse looks a treat. I wish you every success with it. How's the simmer dim doing. It was dark here at 10pm tonight and I think we fare beter than our southern friends.

Lovely pics. Jennie & what a fabulous location. The only thing that would worry me would be getting blown away as there appear to be no trees at all where you live! Bet you're looking forward to stocking the greenhouse. I've had some good lilies this year too but they seem to have gone over very quickly- probably too hot for them!

You must be well chuffed with how your garden looks - I certainly would be. Love the greenhouse - wish I could have one like yours rather than my aluminium job, but that's just envy.
On another note, at the back of the top photo (showing lilies and I think Crocosmia Lucifer, you have a pink rose. Is it by any chance a very heavily scented old moss rose and if so, do you know it's name, as I have one that apparently has been in this garden for decades but no-one remembers the variety's name

Nick - it was blowing about a F6 at the time.

I lost my last greenhouse in a hurricane, so have spent a long time researching the right one, finding the right place in the garden and saving up for it!

I'm sure you all have great gardens south, but it is always difficult here trying to grow things that are wind resistant. Even by Shetland standards we are a very exposed garden. I keep planting trees, but unfortunately they just don't survive the winter.
