    Tree Wish List

    If you could have any trees in your garden what would you have? Ignore any logistical problems of size or soil type, just your favourite trees, for colour, flowers, wildlife etc.

    I've got Lime down so far as the flowers smell amazing and it's good for bees

    I already have a list - all I need is the space to have them all
    Ginkgo - because of the beautiful shaped leaves
    Tibetan cherry (Prunus serrula) - gorgeous bark that you just want to stroke. Ideally lining an avenue (on my imaginary country estate obviously...)
    Tulip tree - a tree with tulips on it, who wouldn't want that?
    Corkscrew hazel - average in summer, amazing in autumn once the leaves have dropped.
    Witch hazels - lots of them for their lovely winter flowers and colours
    Candyfloss tree (Cercidiphyllum japonicum) - delicious burnt sugar scent

        Stone pine tree
        Golden barked Betula - seen with Miss Z Grape
        Weeping willow tree by my meandering waterway that I also don't have

              I have no trees in my garden, (well apart from my new pear trees but not sure how well they will grow due to lack of space and lack of know-how!), so I would basically just love more fruit trees.

              I would love apple and plum trees, and a fig tree as well.

              I would really love a cherry tree for the blossom and also a magnolia tree for the front garden, I just think they are so beautiful.

              When I was a child we had a massive weeping willow in the back garden and when it got cut back it made the most amazing camp for us to play in. I think there is something very charming and romantic about weeping willows, plus they are good for bunnies to chew on so I really would love one, but I cant imagine me having a garden big enough. One day, maybe....

                We are lucky up here. I have two Limes at eighty foot height...be careful what you wish for. We look out on oaks, yew, Scots Pines, Birches, Beeches amongst others. Looks great when we get hoar frost.

                    I would go for owning a woodland!!
                    Failing that, maybe a walnut, mulberry and a cider apple orchard...hiccup!!

                      Damn it, knew I had forgotten cider apples and don't forget perry pears Northepaul! If only you were nearer, we could have a shared orchard.

                        can i be different,thanxz,i don't have anything to wish for,as when we moved home 25+ years ago,we inhereted 2 prunus trees in the back garden boarder,every year i just love to see the pink blossom emerge,then as it drifts away the bronzy leaves appear,we have watched them mature,yes i know they only short and pretty for a few days ,but they are so lovely,at the mo they are bare twigs bouncing in the breeze awaiting blossoms arrival,
                        sigpicAnother nutter ,wife,mother, nan and nanan,love my growing places,seed collection and sharing,also one of these

                          I'm with you on this - my ultimate goal - to own a wood! If I could only grow one tree it would have to be an apple. Beautiful flowers in spring and fruit in the autumn. What more could you want?
