The top looks like a lilac to me. But I'm no expert - I just like lilacs. I'm sure a more knowledgeable type will be along soon. -

The first one lilac the plant that I first thought of for the second was Canterbury bellit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

The second could be monks hood, or I think the correct name is aconitum

Monks hood for the second one...it's poisonous!!
Read the toxicology part of this link and decide if you want to keep it. Are there children who have easy access to it?

My reservation about it being Aconitum is that, apparently, it flowers in summer and early May seems a bit too early to be summer.Comment

Not the time to find out you've got a poisonous plant in your garden smack next to the lawn, we're hosting our daughters christening tomorrow with bouncy castle etc and a good selection of toddlers. Looks like I can add dig out plant to my plan for the near future, shame because it is pretty but right on the boarder of the back lawn is the wrong place.Comment
