    Patio foliage recommendations....

    Hoping someone out there can give me some suggestions.
    Im looking for something with nice foliage to provide interest throughout the winter months, will grow in a pot, is either small or spreads upwards to fit my tiny garden and that even I cant kill!!
    So far Ive already got herbs Im growing and I might get a Hebe as Ive kept them alive before but I really could use a few more suggestions. Any ideas????

    What about a variegated Ivy? The ones with golden yellow or white & green leaves.

      How about pyrocanthis? I personally haven't tried them in pots, but the have colour and structure all year round, and you'll get the birds eating the berries as long as you buy the red berried ones.

        You may find the pyracantha is a bit thorny to grow in a small space. How about one of the choyisias they have pretty evergreen foliage - and the bonus of some perfumed flowers.

          well, the ivy will be easy. Next door has a nice varigated one that is currently creeping over my wall!!
          I def wouldnt have a pyracantha though.....a few years ago I had one in the garden and just gave up on it for a few years. It took over the whole garden, destroyed my bathroom roof and nearly caused serious maiming in its removal! (although it was fun to look out the window and see the enormous sparrow city that lived in it!!).

              something in a tub for the winter .... and something of interest .....

                  Great suggestion, plus thanks for how-to-spell pyracantus! Must try and get it right, and also remember the word (see the "senile" thread!)
