  • Lavender Plants

Since I'm trying to sort out next door's monstrosity of a fence, I have been thinking about a lavender hedge.

I'm sure I have seen (in one of my many seed/plant catalogues) somewhere that does a very good deal on small lavender plants in fairly large numbers (e.g. 50 or 100) but for the life of me, I can't find the catalogue!

Does anyone have any idea who this might have been? Or who might have good deals on this?

    Thanks!

Hi OWG, i have a lavander hedge for a long time now. I started my hedge from a packet of lavander seed. Its been going for years now. Every autumn i cut it back and its still going strong. The only thing is, it won't make a very tall hedge.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I'm not so bothered about the height, as I can add other plants to make the height up, I'd just like something nice looking and fragrant

Thanks Lainey Lou - quite a good deal then!

I grow lavendar and love it. However, my bushes always become woody and leggy. Years ago, I made a mistake when pruning my fabulous, wonderful amazing lavendar bush. In short.....I killed it. So now, my bushes are woody and leggy, as I'm too nervous to prune them properly. So, what time of year should we prune? And how?
          Advice gratefully recieved.

Im lavenderless at moment having just dug up a 7 year old hedge . It had just got too too old, leggy and woody, my mum used to say they were quite short lived plants and i think i would agree. I used to cut it back every autumn but as you cant cut into old wood there is only so much you can do. But if any one has any tips ?? However the good news is that i do now have about 30 rooted cuttings ready to start again !
