Some of the paniculata and arborescens varieties do have more pointy leaves than the mop-headed types.

Yes as Thelma has said some have different leaves.
I think that is a smooth leaf hydrangea - probably Annabelle.
I don't have much luck with hydrangeas as it's too dry here but my Oakleaf hydrangea has flowered this year! Yay!!

Yes, Scarlet - Annabelle is an Hydrangea arborescens variety I can only grow hydrangeas on the North facing fence here, and even then they sometimes need a bucket or 2 of water, when they start wilting. They are so beautiful that they're worth it IMO.

I'm on a water meter Thelma - my toms get my water and I planted a new hedge so that's getting watered too. I can't water the whole garden. I have 8 water butts and they are all empty. We haven't had rain for the last month and when we did that didn't fill them

I wish I could send you some of ours....rained here all day yesterday, and poured overnight, woke me up. All my water butts are full, which is something. No problem growing hydrangeas, but I wonder if my tomatoes will get enough sun to ripen. Never happy eh
Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

^^^ haha that's exactly it! We are never happy

Actually I get really annoyed that my neighbours flowers are always bigger...she just puts the hose on everyday - no meter - makes a huge difference.

I'm on a meter too, but I'm not one for buying fancy clothes/shoes - so If I think I need to water - I do
wouldn't do it every day, mind

I have two greenhouses...so the hose is on to water them. I also planted up a new hedgerow (150 bare roots) that I have to keep well watered. So the 'I don't buy nice clothes etc' excuse is already in use
