  • Heliconia rostrata

I bought this delicate plant this year. It's its first winter so I have protected it. I was gobsmacked to find that it is being seriously attacked by tiny snails. Apart from the unmentionable pellets what else can I do?

Baby snails get everywhere don't they? Pellets, properly & carefully used, aren't so bad. Mine are all wedged in the gaps underneath my cell trays, and I found dozens of small slugs tucked under the lids of the gravel trays when I emptied out my tomatoes. I knew they were in the gh, I just couldn't find the little boogers

A thick layer of broken eggshell, ash, copper tape or bran around the stem does the trick with slugs....
