  • Gladioli ?

Rather simple - do they die back in the winter?

Bought a few bulbs or whatever, a few years back. Never did anything.
Sometime I have moved the remains to a different place, didn't realise I had moved them until 5 sprouted this year.

Have been only small, no flowers and about 15-20 inches tall, nice compact blades of leaves.

So far as half expected. The unexpected is I still have 5 nice compact blades of leaves 15-20 inches tall, and I would have thought they would have died back for the winter.

So do they die back or what?

Mine have died back but the brown leaves are still standing
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

The ones that have been insitu for a few years have died back and are now all brown leaves but the ones I planted late in year (end summer cheap box) didn’t flower but still have green stems.
