  • Gardening challenge programme - Agastache

I’ve just spotted a really good plant that will be perfect for my garden and the colour scheme. Spotted it on this weeks garden challenge programme.

It’s an Agastache. I googled it and particularly like the “Blackadder” variety.

I like growing from scratch if I can and was wondering if anyone has grown it from seed?

I couldn’t see anywhere at the usual seed places.

    Kind Regards.............Rob

I can see that you can get plants online but no seeds. Very odd

In this link it talks about propagation & says this cultivar is sterile, does that mean it has no seeds?

I had a quick google, as I've never heard of that one before. Lovely flowers!

If you search for Agastache seeds you get loads that sell seeds. I found loads. I'm not convinced I'll buy any though - I only just ordered a whole bunch of flower seeds for next year.

Chilterns have several agastache varieties but not that particular one. Quite often a named variety won't come true from seed so you have to buy it as a plant (grown from cuttings, division or micropropagated depending on how popular it is.)

Well spotted JJ. Any seeds it produces will not be viable - which is why seeds are not on sale.

Oh I think my reading comprehension is going down the pan. I didn't realise you were talking about a particular variety.
