Can any one help, My sweet peas that I planted in deep pots are growing well but are looking a bit pale green. Should I feed them & if so with what. I cant get to plant the out on my plot for another week. Any advice please.

Hi growbag, you could givethem a weak tomato feed (about 1/2 strength) as they will make there own Nitrogen being Legumes.

Thanks Nick, hopefully I can plant them out next week, they have been in the coldframe & I believe they are quite hardy.

I've been liquid feeding my Autumn-sown Sweet Peas a quarter-strength nitrogen feed, for the last 3 weeks, which has 'bulked them up' superbly well, without rendering them soft or sappy, so they've been toughened up and hardened off, and I'm dead chuffed with their health. They'd be about 12"-14" tall now, three seedlings to a 5" pot, tendrills removed, stems tied to a central stake. Shall I pot them on again and let the four weeks of nutrients in the compost take over, or switch now to Nick's recommended half potash feed to toughen them up even more and to induce flowering, and plant them out protected with fleece?
        Advice gratefully received peeps.

              I'll speak to you Wellie

I'd pot them up as they will develope a better root ball then you can resume feeding in 4 weeks time if you haven't planted them out by then.

Oh, that's a result guys! I want good advice from peeps that have learned that little bit earlier than me, to tide me over till I know better... Then I can pass your wisdom onto someone else equally as grateful.
Not being funny, but my Sweet Peas are now about 12" tall, no tendrils, and dead tough to punch my lights out in 6" pots.... Shall I plant them out?
Every day is a new experience with certain things I grow for us to eat or just enjoy. And why not....?
                Thank you.
