  • Collecting fritillary seed

Was wondering if I could collect seed from a snakes head fritillary seed pod. I opened one of them and there were lots of little seeds in it. Is that possible ?

Well, I have no clue, but I would save the seeds and then sow them!

Sow as soon as ripe as the seed develops germination inhibitors.

You could just leave them and let them self sow or wait until the seed pods are just beginning to split and then save the seeds from them. I would let them self sow, if the Mother plants are happy where they are then the babies will be as well.

Thanks I would self sow but am in the midst of completely changing the front garden. Will have a go at collecting and just scatter them where I’d liked them to grow. Says on that link that it might take 5 years to flower. Oh well worth a try they are my favourite flower.
