  • Cheap roses?

I spotted some cheap climbing roses the other day, £1 each, and was sorely tempted to buy at least one to try to cover a big tree stump that's half in our garden.

They're mostly labelled by colour rather than by variety.

Has anybody bought any of these before, if so, are they any good?

For a pound, why not? Just be aware that although their stuff usually grows well it doesn't always turn out the colour it is supposed to be.

      My garden is "white".

the white plants, bulbs and seeds I buy from the cheapo shops invariably turn out pink. Or yellow

Sometimes though, I get a winner

I bought one from poundland and it flowered so well for almost 5 years after which I threw it away as it started getting black spots on leaves and I wanted a change for that area of the garden, so can't go wrong for £1.

For a pound what have you to lose, give them a try.

Go on Endymion !! - What else can one buy for £1 now?? Two postage stamps, a newspaper, a ride for two stops on the bus, half an hours parking. Splash out you could end up with a real gem

              I did

It looks as if loads of other people did too, because by the time I managed to get back to the shop there were only a few left.

I wasn't going to get a purple one, which was a good thing because they'd all gone. I bought a yellow one which, we hope, will look lovely.

they have named bush varieties in the 99p store, but still they may still have been packaged incorrectly the ones they have are: queen of england, dame de coeur (aka queen of hearts), joro, kronenbourg, garden princess and virgo
