    Would you say I've left it too late?

    Just realised I haven't bought, or sown any cape gooseberries! What was I thinking? Just looked at online seed suppliers and sowing dates are February and March. Have I missed it for this year for them do you think, or should I nip and get some tomorrow and give them a go?
    You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

    Treat them like tomatoes and sow some now. If you give them somewhere cosy to live they're perennial anyway.

        wondered what these were , I know these as Physalis.

        I have seen the roots in bags of soil being sold in the pounshops but dont know if they are anygood

        Is there much to growing them from seed as I quite like them but dont have a greenhouse as yet.

          Be careful if buying from a £ shop or similar that you don't buy the Chinese lanterns which look similar and are also Physalis - they are P. alkekengi and are decorative. You need P. edulis/peruviana to eat.
          I grew mine from supermarket fruit, bought many years ago. They self seed in the GH now.

              I sowed mine ages ago and the seedlings are still tiny - only just formed their first true leaves
              What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

                same here skeggijon, they do take a while to get going!

                I plant mine between cucumber plants....as the Q's die down late in the season the physalis suddenly bulk up.

                  Well I popped out and bought a pack this morning. This one says sowing is February, March, April, not just February March, so they are now potted, grow little seeds grow!
