It's a ladybird pupa. It'll soon hatch and eat you aphids.

I remember as a kid me & my pals collecting old jam jars full of lady birds, now I can't even remember the last time I seen one. We prob wiped em out.

Are they? I've seen quite a few adults wandering around my garden recently, and there are several soon-to-be ladybirds just like in the picture around one of my apple trees. The poor tree's been completely infested with aphids for the last month or so, but I'm trying my best not to spray or poison so I've just been waiting for enough predators to show up.

Earlier this year I have had to stop cutting the grass on my allotment as there was so many ladybirds in it, so maybe it`s a localised thing.
Girls are like flowers, a little attention every day and they`ll blossom.
