  • Vitis outdoor grape advice

Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me any advice on an outdoor grape? It is 3 year old growing on a east/south faceing wall, for the past 2 year we have had about 10 bunches of grapes but the grapes are only the size of peas, what I would like to know is do I stop the side branches when they reach the end of the wires about 4 ft from the main stem or leave them to grow? Also how much water does it need , up to now it has 10 bunches on and the grapes are about the size of pin heads , so it must be doing ok , thanks for any advice

Sorry to hijack this thread but it's better than making another I guess =). Same as Gold here pretty much. Also what is a good method to train a grape vine? It's about 4 years old and i've just left it to do it's thing each year but it's starting to look a bit wild and tatty now. Is there any methods I could take? I'm afraid of snipping bits off in case they are the bits that are suppose to bear the fruits.

can't help on detailed advice as I'm still learning this bit myself but one thing is for certain don't prune when the sap is flowing as the vine can bleed to death!
fortunately not my mistake but someone elses!
      prune in winter
