  • Tayberry Planting Question

    Evening all!

I took a trip to the gc today and walked out with more than the seeds I went in for, big surprise, and bought a tayberry. I just couldn't resist a bargain!
So...whats the ideal planting place? Would it be ok in a pot? I do have somewhere I could plant it, but as we rent I don't like planting too much stuff.
Anyone else had success with their tayberry? Care to share?

I have a tayberry that I took as a cutting from my mothers. It is quite a sprawling thing now so I would doubt that it would manage in a pot. If you plant it in the garden you could take a bit with you when you move.

I have a Tayberry growing in one of those potato pouches (Homebase was giving the pouches away a few months ago).

I have some canes in the bag and it is against the back of the garage wall facing south. So far this year I have had 2 kilos of fruit still covered in flowers and small fruit.
If only the fruit came off like a rasberry.

It would be better in the ground. If you move you can always dig up a rooted bit of a new shoot. They are probably best against a fence or wall so you can train the shoots outwards.
