Tasteless tayberry

Raspberries, tayberries, loganberries etc were originally semi-woodland plants and do better in cool(ish) weather. I think this is the reason many of the varieties were bred in Scotland. So yes, I would guess that it's the weather.

My raspberries aren't as sweet this year as they were last year, or as big, I'm blaming the lack of water but have no idea if this is valid

my raspberries Alison are tasty this year but I have been watering but maybe it depends on the variety

My cherries are the same this year - I remember FB saying fruit is never as tasty when it's competing with the plant for water (or something like that) - normally in the first few years after planting but I would expect the same to be true with dry weather.
A lack of food can also do it I think.

My raspberries, tayberries a strawberries where all small and tasteless at first this year. I have installed a micro irragation system to water my plants and since then they have got big and sweet.

So I also put it down to lack of water.

thanks everyone looks like it could be lack of water/food then. My strawbs were so sweet but maybe I watered them more or fed them more. Blackcurrants seem to be a bit unsweet as well.
