  • Spindly grape vine

    Hi all
I planted a grape vine in my green house last year and did what was suggested, which was to remove any side shoots. It's been fed and watered all through last summer (and survived!) And I now have a long 'string'.
Please can someone tell me what I need to do with it now? Some books have said to reduce it by half....
    Help!

How long is it, how have you got it trained/or how do you want to train it? eg along wires or just to cover a trellis outside?

      Hi Thelma
It's about 6 foot. I was intending to grow it along a wire in my green house.

If you cut it just above a bud at/just below the wire level and then when the tops buds grow you train the new growth along the wires IYKWIM.
That's what I did and the stem got a lot fatter in the next year.

Thanks Thelma. I will do that.
          Guess it makes sense.
