  • Spacing for blueberries

I have been told I can pick up the keys to my 5-rod allotment on Saturday

I've been down to have a look, and the site is pretty good, there are about 20 or so doc leaf plants, but other than that it doesn't look like I'll need to do too much clearing.

So on to what I will be growing there... primarily fruit (blueberries, strawbs, rasps, tayberries, blackcurrants, figs, possibly grapes), spuds, onions, garlic and a hell of a lot of sweetcorn.

I took delivery of 3 pinkberry lemonade plants last weekend, and have 2 more on order thanks to the offer in the GYO mag front cover. My question is, what's the ideal spacing of the plants, (I'm assuming same as blueberries as they are just a different type) - but again I dont know what the ideal spacing should be.

Also, as I'll be needing quite a lot of ericaceous compost, I've heard the best way is to dig a hole (50cm or so deep), line with pierced compost bags, then fill with the compost. Is that correct? If so, how wide do I need to make them for each plant?
