    Soft fruit to grow in pots

    Hello all,
    I am new here but realised I end up on this site so frequently when googling queries that I should just join!

    I have just started a raised bed vegetable patch in my garden and would like to create a small boundary between it and the rest of the garden. My plan is to grow some small soft fruit bushes in pots (the soil is extremely poor) gooseberries, blueberries etc. But I don't what them to grow too tall.

    Any suggestions of what might be suitable would be very welcome

      Any idea of the soil PH?
      Important, esp for Blueberries.
      Feed the soil, not the plants.
      (helps if you have cluckies)

        The soil is alkaline but would they grow well in a pot with ericaceous compost?

            Blueberries should do fine in pots with ericaceous compost. But if your soil is alkaline your tap water is probably hard too, which they don't like. In that case it's better to save rain water to water them with.

                  Yep I grow blueberries in pots and have a 100lt butt to collect rainwater from the shed roof.

                    Welcome Kat, I have 2 large water butts and if it ever rains this year I will hopefully get some rain water, at the moment they are half full with tap water to stop the gales blowing them away.
