    redcurrant help

    I have had some sawfly on my redcurrant but what is causing the discolouration and some leaves to drop and what can I do to prevent it?

    It looks as if it is in a pot and if so I would suggest that it is lack of water. Mine look worse than that but my soil is quick draining and we are suffering from lack of rain.

      I wouldn't be too concerned, at this time of year, some plants will start to lose leaves on the slow run up to autumn. I have lots of currants of different varieties and many of these are experiencing this type of thing. They are pretty robust plants and will not be too bothered. Just make sure they don't completely dry out for too long, prune out the worst looking/dead limbs and next year the plant should be just fine. It's been a funny old year with drought followed by wet followed by drought down here so it's not surprising the plants don't look their best!

        I was going to say "autumn" too, because my plants are turning yellow & brown also. however, your leaves are looking soggy & brown: water-logging?
