    Raspberry what type?

    Hi new poster here just wanting some advice on raspberrys, I plan to grow them in a nice big tub and ideally I was wanting the later fruiting type. The problem I have is the garden centre has several verities and i have no idea which would be best any advice or comments on the varieties would be welcome.

    the choice is from the following:

    Glen Ample
    Allgold
    Glen Clova
    Tulameen
    Zeva
    Autumn bliss

    I've got Autumn Bliss and I get good crops from mid summer onwards through to October with good flavour, but then aren't all raspberries delicious?. I haven't grown the others so I can't comment on how they compare.

      Tulameen is a summer ones, I have some, supposed to be good, but not if you want later (autumn) ones. I picked Polka as an autumn one, after recommendations, however the ones I planted last Nov have not really thrived, and one looks decidedly dead. I have 2 allgolds which are doing well, they are autumn but yellow fruiting.

        I have autumn bliss and polka (autumn fruiting -- much easier to look after) and tulameen (summer ) .Polka are the best -- bigger and tastier !

          Last year I was eating Polka and Tulameen. It was the first year with Polka, go a small crop that was nice. This years plants look very healthy and the tulameen is full of buds.

            Tulameen give large and tasty crops.
            I am growing Glen Ampte year: expecting the same: lots of large tasty fruit. It appears to be 2-3 weeks earlier than Tulameen.

            Mind you after our winter some of our canes looked dead and have only started to sprout. We had a very severe winter - the worst ever. -19C for two nights... That is COLD.

                Glen Ample is prickle free if that's a factor in your decision.

                  Thanks for all the advice sadly my local place doesn't stock polka so I think Im going to go with Autumn bliss.

                    Homebase sell them if there is one near you, £4.99 for a pot of 3 canes or 3 pots for £10.00.
