  • Raspberries and blackberries in pots???

Does anyone successfully manage to grow raspberries or blackberries in pots? I would like to have 2 or 3 each of these but can't realistically have them in the ground. I fancy trying them but am a bit skeptical as to whether it would work in pots. I can't give them huge containers, probably either 1 to a 10l pot or 2 to a 20l. Any thoughts please??

I've grown both in pots, the bigger the pot the better. I've got an autumn raspberry currently in a 40cm round pot, it's absolutely covered in fruit and I have plenty of canes. I've had it for a couple of years though, and split it a few times to get more plants.

I renovate the compost every winter, trimming back the rootball and adding new compost and blood, fish and bone feed.

That's good to hear Karl. So do you just have the one cane in the 40l pot? I hoped it could be done as I really wanted to try growing these but it wasn't a realistic option to put them in the ground.

Yeah, just put one in each pot, it'll put out suckers and fill the pot nicely.
