    Pysalis in the garden

    Has anyone any experience of growing physlis (cape gooseberry) in the garden, as opposed to the greenhouse or in pots? I have grown physalis in pots for a number of years. They usually produce something but do not seem particularly happy. I would like to put them in the beds but am not sure whether they will survive. Any advice, tips or previous experience greatly appreciated.

    Yes, they grow here on the east coast OK, right by the sea. They like sandy soil

      Hi I just got sme seeds from scottishnewbie who grew them in.......scotland! Might be worth asking her, Im pretty sure she grew them outside. I hope so! Im gonna try in leeds this year!

        Thanks for your responses. I am in north west London so shouldn't have too much difficulty if they will grow in Norfolk and Scotland. My soil is heavy clay, much worked over and composted over the years. When do you put them out and do they need any special care such as support or feeding?
