    hello all
    i put a fruit net over my blackcurrants this year expecting a good amount of fruit but the fruit turn dark red and then either fall off the bushes or shrivel up before falling off what am i doing wrong. how can i prevent this from happening next year

    It's not the fruit net, it's probably soil or climactic conditions, cold snaps or the plant/s not getting enough nutrients that is the problem.

      Sounds like a lack of the right nutrients - mine did that a couple of years ago and I think when I looked it up, it was potash they needed. If you haven't got potash, try any soluble plant fertiliser and water in well around the roots (some of them can be applied to the leaves too - even better) for a quick uptake of some goodness. You don't need to write it off for this year, try and save what you can!

        thanks for getting back to me i will try watering them with tomato food this is high in potash i think
