  • Are Pineberry worth growing or are they another overhypted oddity?

Are they any good flavour and yield wise please?

Was originally thinking of going for Mara des Bois.

Depends what you like. They don't taste like pineapple but pineapple is a close a flavour as you can get to describing them. They are certainly not worth paying silly amounts of money for. If you remind me at the end of the season I can send you some anablanca runners (I also have framberry red dream). No idea what Mara des Bois are like, but my pineberries still have a place in the garden after 8ish years so worth summin

I have pine berry and Mara de Bois.
I only grow a few pineberries just because it's something different. If you had the space for just one, I'd go for Mara de Bois.

Many thanks both of you. Catalogue puff can be so deceptive.

Norfolkgrey, I shall be taking up your very kind offer. Once I get back from Despatching OH to Manila via Gatwick and poured a G&T I'll be putting in an order for some Mara de Bois.

I bought pineberrys years ago and have had next to nothing from them and the plants are still tiny, although I've had runners from them.

I lifted them all today and put them into a strawberry planter and put that into the greenhouse to see if that helps any.

So far not impressed, hoping they just didn't like where they were planted.
