  • Pineapples

Has anyone ever had a go at this, I have just found a facinating web site on how to grow a pineapple from the fruit bought at your local supermarket. I think I will give this a go anyone want to join me?

I had a go but it dried out. I followed a similar procedure to that link but dipped the top in rooting hormone powder and then into compost. I think I'll try again with the water immersion method.

click the linky it gives a step by step how to...they need to be in pots, too cold here over winter.

I'm getting excited about this, just cut my first pineapple head, like it said on the linky, just gonna leave it to dry for a few day...now then I would post a step by step piccie, but am having trouble posting pics. tomatoking has tried to help me but I still can't quite get it right

I know you don't get many fruits but I find it fascinating the way they grow and as the web site says it may be worth it just for the aroma of lovely sweet pineapples growing in your green house imagine that!!!!

I have one that I grew more or less as the link suggests. It's at least two years old now and still alive, although not spectacular! It lives indoors in the winter but is outside again now. I would be more thrilled than a very thrilled person if it ever actually produced a fruit
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

I think it takes at least 2/3 years before you get a fruit so fingers crossed for you for this year

Dont judge a plant by it's pot.

I have grown pineapple in the past. I cut the top off the fruit (about one inch) parallel with a good growth and put it in soil so that only the growth is showing.

It grew for about 5 years before it got rotten and died.

Never had fruit, but it did look good in the house.
