Congratulations Nicos. Is your peach tree outside or in a greenhouse / conservatory.

well- it's in a greenhouse with nine panes of glass missing ( ) so I suppose you can just about call it in a greenhouse!
More to my shame- I've not pruned it yet cos I thought I had another couple of weeks, so guess what I'll be up to tomorrow!!
It's one of the flat varieties called jalusa (sp??) and it is more than delicious.....

Very interesting Nicos. I'm not all that much further north than you and my greenhouse has all it's glass so I might have a look into the possibility of a peach tree. Mmm! Enjoy yours.

Mine's got buds coming outside but no flowers yet. Presumably some varieties flower / fruit earlier or later but as I've no idea what type mine is I can't check up what it should be doing.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

You're meant to prune when the tree is in full leaf to avoid disease.

I'm sure it will be fine.
Ours is a few years old... at first we thought is was an almond and did very little pruning (some of which was in winter) but it has never had any disease. I should have pruned it earlier because now it's too big to get to the top! but I manage to remove a bit.

Bought my peach tree from woolworths last summer, its been kept outside (in a sheltered corned) all winter and has tiny buds starting to open - and I live in the outer outer hebredies!!! Hope to have the poly up soon give all that soft groth some protection

I would imagine that you could get in the Guiness Book of World Records for the most northern peach tree grown at that latitude!

and now I am getting worried ...
the temperatures start dropping tomorrow evening....
Peach is OK with frost (so I have read)...but not with wet frost!!!
Have bought my new panes and W clips today...
Hope to beat it just in time!!
