  • New fruit plants

Just come home from the aldi ,and could not stop myself from buying 3 little fruit bushes.
This is all new to me and I will have to put these in pots at the moment,so advise needed please.
Just read on here and someone else mentioned one cane in a pot.Is a cane a plant or do you mean a cane??
I have a raspberry ,black currant and another tan berry ?? Looks like large raspberry .
How do I put them in a pot, could they go together or what??soil best for them I will do some reading soon, but some of you might have better ideas or things that you wish to pass on.
Hope to read some good advise as usual on here.
    Thank-you rose.

Have a look under their current pots to see if any roots are coming out. If so, just pot them on into the next size up. I would imagine if you have just bought them, they will be single cane. Tan berry will be Tayberry.

You can buy a plant in a pot, or a bare rooted cane which you plant. Canes are sold in the dormant season i.e. winter.

Thanks very much for sharing this York lady, I have an Aldi about 4 miles away from me but as I don't drive I rarely trail up there. I saw your thread late last night and thought about going after work on Saturday, but then I decided to go today instead. I'm so pleased I did because you could tell that the fruit bushes had been thoroughly rifled through and most of the best ones were gone. I managed to get a tayberry, blackberry, summer raspberry and green grape. There were a couple left of goji berry, blackcurrant, green gooseberry and both summer and autumn raspberries. There was no red gooseberries, black grapes or blueberries, probably just as well though.
