  • moving fruit tree

hi all I'm thinking of moving one of my trees i planted to a less windy spot in my garden.
when is the best time of year to do this?

With my limited knowledge I think I am right in saying when its dormant, ie November onwards.

FB will be along soon and he is our resident expert

I think the general advice is to move trees in the autumn or early spring when they are dormant. If you have to move it now you'll need to try and get as much as the trees root ball as possible and keep it well watered.

Is this one of your newly planted trees?
Does it have many leaves/any fruit?
Instead of moving it, you could put up something to break the wind like a trellis, or a tree you don't care about!

It's not uncommon for newly planted trees to not fruit in their first year, however as others have said moving them is best done in the dormant period and moving it now will not give you fruit this year anyway.
