  • Moving Cherry trees

    Hi

I have been offered a cherry tree and need to dig it up and move it to my plot. Is it ok to move it now or is there a better time of year to do it.?

Is there anything i should do to prepare the ground where I am planting it?

    thanks

Winter is the best time to move trees. The older they are, the less well they will transplant.
Dig out a hole that is wider and deeper than the root system and then fill the planting hole with an equal mixture of topsoil and compost.
Keep weeds/grass at least a foot away from the tree for a few years.

Cherries are comparatively shallow rooted so there shouldn't be too many problems!
