  • Lingonberry/Cowberry or Cranberry?

LIDL will soon be selling a plant they're calling Cranberry or Vaccinium Vitis. LIDL Great Britain - lidl.co.uk
Goggling I keep coming back to Vaccinium Vitis -Idaea as a lingonberry/cowberry. (the berries beloved by a certain Swedish store!)
What does the team think it is? Should I buy one?

If you can grow enough of them, you should approach said store and sell the food miles side of things

You should have some nice acidic soil under your woodland banks. Go for it, sounds nice. They like acid.

I've just looked at this on Lidl app and it doesn't state it's an edible. It lists the berries as pink or white, turning through red. Are we sure it's not just an ornamental as from googling there are 25 different varieties under that generic species name? Don't want you poisoning yourself!

Knowing Lidl/Aldi it could end up being a blueberry.

It's generic for lots of plants of that ilk. Trouble with this one is that it looks like an ornamental to me. Might feed the birds though - did you want fruit for them or you? Kore is near to you and they have some fantastic fruiting shrubs. In fact I think the roadshow is going down there soon...

I only want it if I can eat it - I'm very selfish like that! I've never been to Kore so if the Road show is passing that way give me a shout I'll bring my credit card

You have to order before and we asked if we could collect. We could collect and have eats somewhere. Have a look at the Kore website.

I'm waiting for the website to show what is in stock this autumn. Lots of stuff I want is still showing as sold out.

Think they had most stuff that I was interested in, but I am happy to wait - let me know when
