  • An idea for growing on strawberry runners especially in pots

I grew my Cambridge Favourites in Morrisons flower buckets last year and there are lots of runners on them.

I put a seed tray full of gravel and water inbetween a couple of pots and trailed the runners into it, they seem to be growing roots quite quickly.

I have to admit that every year I chop off my runners and bung them in water until they get roots. I can't be bothered with little pots of compost and pegging them down. It is very rare I lose a runner and it does mean I get just a little bit longer to figure out where I'm going to plants them

As you have put your runners into gravel, I put mine straight into trays of compost & cut away from the parent once they start growing.
