  • How's yer blossom?

Exactly what it says in the title........

My plum (marjorie's seedling) seems to be a tad lacking in blossom this year ....on t'other hand my cherry tree is blooming and the apple tree has loads of blossom buds. The trees I got this year from Aldi have leaves but the stick I got from lidls has leaves and blossom .
So how's everyone elses trees doing?

Aside from a pear they are all looking dandy - my plum is smothered. Sloe hedging (blackthorn) is very slow growing...grrrr!

Funny you should ask! My friend and I were just saying about our peach trees not having very much blossom this year I have 3 apple trees and only 2 of them have a lot of blossom but my pear trees are covered (for the moment, and for the first time) We seem to have exactly the opposite of you VVG, our blackthorn, and hawthorn, for that matter have loads of blossom. I have no idea why this happens but I have noticed that if something has a lot of fruit in one year, it often doesn't have much the next year.

        Pears:
        Doyenne d'ete in full blossom.
Conference and Willians almost in full blossom.
Concorde just a few blossoms open.

        Apple:
Beauty of Bath, Irish Peach and Scrumptious with a few blossoms open.
Winter Majetin, Edward VII and Court Pendu Plat: still in deep sleep.

Blueberries a few flowers open on some.

Alpine strawberries with a few flowers.

Everbearer strawberries (Albion, I think?) showing flower buds likely to open within a few days.

Some currants flowering (their funny little green flowers are eaily overlooked so I might have missed some in recent weeks).
        .

My bramley apple has lovely deep pink buds and I bumped into a branch yesterday, a twig of blossom fell of and I found myself saying sorry to the tree without thinking, daft eh.

My Victoria plum is showing flower buds, but not open yet (maybe today if the sun comes out)

The huge ancient apple tree in the back garden (variety unknown but produces large cooking apples) has leaves but no blossom yet.

Gooseberries and strawberries on the allotment in flower.

My pear is covered, there are buds on my cox's pippin, a little on my plum but nothing on the braeburn yet.

My strawbs have blossom buds underneath getting ready to poke their heads up.

There's a frost forecast for tonight so I'm going to cover everything with fleece when I go down to lottie later.

My Damson (Shropshire Prune) has been smothered in blossom for ages and has dropped most of it now. The Cherry (Cherry Pie) which was new last year is covered with blossom buds. Just hope I can beat the birds to the cherries this year

My Plum Tree is in full blossom ( not sure what type it is as inherited it from previous homeowner - but looks like Victoria Plum or Marjorie's Seedling?) The apple tree only leaf sprouts so far?...

My peach tree in the greenhouse is nearly finished blooming and methinks I have tiny little peaches the size of a small pea!

All the apple and pear cordons seem to be blossoming well and a plum tree I rescued last year has blossom on also, even though its only 3' high!

Ancient plum tree - blossom is nearly over but had loads. And loads on it root stock bullace too...

                              Pears are blossoming beautifully.

Apples and budding up ready to blossom.

Some flowers on the wild strawberries, goosgos looking fab - even some budding flowers on the rasps!
